Invisalign®

What it is
Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten your teeth using a series of clear, virtually invisible custom-moulded aligners.

What it involves
The course of treatment involves changing aligners every two weeks until your teeth have straightened to the final position your dentist has prescribed. Unlike traditional metal braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth as usual. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week.  Total treatment time averages 15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 12 and 30, but both will vary from case to case. You will visit your Oracare dentist about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Thousands of adults have already benefited from treatment in America and the UK where over 3000 orthodontists have treated their patients with Invisalign.

How are they made?
The aligners are made through a combination of your dentist's expertise and 3-D computer imaging technology.

  • The dentist evaluates and creates a program of treatment
  • Photos and impressions of your teeth are taken
  • A CT scan (Computed Tomography or CAT scan), is made from your dental impressions. The CT scan produces an extremely accurate, 3-dimensional digital model of your teeth
  • CAD (Computer Aided Design) software is then used to simulate the movement of your teeth during treatment
  • Invisalign then uses advanced stereolithography (SLA) technology to build precise molds of your teeth at each stage of your treatment
  • Individualized, custom-created clear aligners are then made from these models

Things to look out for
It is not suitable for all people with malaligned teeth and will need an initial consultation to determine suitability.

Does it hurt?

No. Initially the aligner will feel a little tight for a few days and then the feeling will go

Expect to pay

From £3,000 to £4,000 depending on whether a single arch is treated or both arches
