Renowned plastic surgeon Dr Ash Dutta has appeared before a medical panel.
Dr Dutta, who runs Sunderland's Aesthetic Beauty Centre, was appearing in front of the General Medical Council (GMC) fitness to practise hearing in Manchester on Tuesday.
The founder of the laser specialist Aesthetic Beauty Centre, Dr Dutta has had conditions imposed on him by the GMC last year – including being temporarily barred from carrying out cosmetic surgery operations – while it carried out investigations into a patient's complaint.
One of the procedures probed by the GMC was about a lower eyebag blepharoplasty
at Palmer Community Hospital, Jarrow.
Dr Dutta admitted before the council that he made incisions to the eyes of a person referred to in the hearing as Patient A, which were "more than an acceptable distance below the ciliary (eyelash) margin".
In another blepharoplasty procedure, Patient "B" was treated by Dr Dutta at South Tyneside Hospital in May 2006.
He has now admitted making "incisions more than an acceptable distance below the ciliary margin," and his "incisions were uneven by reference to the ciliary margin".
The fitness to practise hearing – which will decide whether Dr Dutta's conduct was irresponsible, inappropriate, misleading, dishonest and not in the best interests of his patients – is expected to last for at least another week.
