Cosmetic surgery advertising set for TV screens
24th November 2006

A report in the Irish Independent points to a ban on cosmetic surgery advertising being lifted on television and radio next year.

According to the Irish Independent, the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) will allow a number of controversial products to advertise - including cosmetic surgeries. In the UK, there are a host of television programmes dedicated to looking younger and anti-ageing treatments, including "Ten Years Younger", "Extreme Makeover" and "Celebrity Surgery.

However, there is no advertising from cosmetic surgery companies like Transform or The Hospital Group. The change in thinking in Ireland - traditionally a very conservative country - may well herald a change in thinking over here.
