You will have a permanent scar following a tummy tuck although it will fade over time.
Moving about as soon as you are able following the operation will help to prevenet blood clots.
As with all operations, there is a risk of infection. This can be treated with antibiotics.
You'll need to wear a supportive abdominal binder following the operation to contain swelling and support the muscular repair.
If you're a smoker, you'll need to stop before you have your tummy tuck as smokers have a higher risk of complications.
Full recovery may take up to three months, but you should be able to go back to work, taking things carefully within three weeks.
Scars should soften and fade within nine months.
